About the exhibition

With “Not What You Saw”, Foam 3h presents Keerthana Kunnath’s first solo museum exhibition. Her series follows women bodybuilders in Kerala and reveals the physical work, emotional strain and financial pressure involved in their sport.

Kunnath challenges common ideas about what femininity and beauty should look like. Strong colours and the soft light of southern India meet confident poses and everyday situations. The result is documentation, a tribute and a visual provocation at once.
